Director, Compliance & Quality

More than 25 years ago I started my career as a Pharmacist working in a traditional retail establishment.  I worked my way up to a Pharmacy Supervisor, District Manager, Regional Director and finally to Director of Pharmacy Operations for one of the top 4 Pharmacy retailers, all while pursuing my Master’s degree in Business Administration.  While I am an operator at heart, with the introduction of several key legislations, such as the Omnibus Reconciliation Act (OBRA) and  Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), I began working in a more regulatory and compliance capacity.

In 2011 I was presented with an opportunity to move to Tampa and accept a position dedicated to compliance.  In that role I was responsible for the establishment, administration and tracking of compliance implementation and training programs; the administration and follow up of all policies and procedures; and eventually the monitoring and oversight of Delegated entities. I also supported internal compliance and information security certification programs consistent with the Compliance Certification Board (CCB), including developing content, strategies and tools to effectively train and support associates and organizational compliance.

I have a Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry and Pharmacy, a Master’s in Business Administration, am certified in Healthcare Compliance, and am a registered Pharmacist in 6 states.  I have been published in Compliance Today 4 times since 2014 and presented at the Managed Care Conference in 2017. In addition to my professional career, I am a certified Group Fitness and Yoga instructor.

As a Pharmacist, one of the most valuable parts of my job was the interaction I would have with patients, helping them achieve better health and I continue to be passionate about this regardless of my role.  As the Director of Compliance and Quality for Continental Benefits, I have a unique opportunity to leverage my expertise and leadership towards the goal of better healthcare for all.
